Celebrating 22 Years of CASA Service
Mary Schuman retires after many years of dedicated service. For 22 years, Mary Schuman has been a voice of hope and strength for children in need. As a CASA volunteer, Mary has worked tirelessly on 9 cases, advocating for 19 children facing some of life’s most challenging circumstances. From toddlers with medical needs to teenagers navigating complex family dynamics, Mary has shown up, time and time again, with compassion and dedication.
Mary captures the heart of her work beautifully: “It’s so critical that children feel they are important to someone. When they encounter volunteers, they realize that CASAs give their time to each of them because they are important.”
Throughout her time as a CASA, Mary has been more than an advocate—she’s been a steady presence, a trusted listener, and a reminder to every child she’s served that they are not alone. Whether ensuring a young boy with severe medical needs had access to the care he deserved or helping a teenager find her voice during a pivotal time in her life, Mary’s impact is profound and lasting.
Her unwavering commitment and belief in the value of every child have touched countless lives, including those of the children, families, and professionals she has worked with along the way.
Mary, from all of us at CASA of St. Louis, thank you. Thank you for your time, your heart, and your incredible dedication over the past 22 years. The lives you’ve touched, the hope you’ve inspired, and the difference you’ve made will not be forgotten.
