The Emerson Child Advocate of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer who has made significant contributions to the organizational mission of advocating for abused and neglected children and youth in foster care by representing the best interests of the child(ren) they serve.

The award recipient will be honored at our annual gala in April.


Nominees should demonstrate a continued, consistent commitment to Voices for Children/CASA of St. Louis’ mission of serving abused and neglected children in foster care by making significant contributions toward promoting the best interest of the child(ren) they serve.


Written nominations should be submitted electronically no later than March 1, 2019 at 5:00 pm by email attachment to Beth Fultz at

Nominations may be submitted by any Voices for Children/CASA St. Louis staff member or community partner who has direct knowledge of the nominee’s service in the CASA role. Supporting documents from other individuals familiar with the volunteer’s service may also be included.


Must be a current (unpaid) volunteer actively serving on a case or have served on a case during the past calendar year.


The Emerson Child Advocate of the Year Award will be given based on the volunteer’s commitment to the CASA role and the impact they have demonstrated in advocating for the child(ren) they serve. The finalist for the award will be chosen by a panel of third party reviewers. Factors considered in evaluating the volunteer will include, but are not limited to, their consistent and sustained commitment to advocacy, exemplary contributions they have made to the children they serve, and willingness to exceed expectations.
